Fire Destroys Vacant House in Odenton

Firefighters responded shortly after midnight Friday to Delray Court, near North Patuxent Road.

A fire tore through a vacant house in Odenton early Friday morning, completely gutting a structure that had already been marked for demolition.

Lt. Cliff Kooser of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units responded at about 12:20 a.m. Friday to Delray Court, just east of North Patuxent Road.

They discovered a house that was fully engulfed in flames, but extinguished it without any severe damage to other nearby houses.

Kooser said the house was already unoccupied and that there were already plans to level it. There were no reports of injuries and no immediate word on what caused the fire.
