Documents and Maps on Rubble Landfill
There will be a public hearing Thursday night regarding a proposed rubble landfill at the end of Capitol Raceway Road in Crofton. Patch has uploaded some maps, correspondence and other public documents in anticipation of the hearing.
The Maryland Department of the Environment on Thursday night will host an information session and public hearing on a proposed rubble landfill by Tolson & Associates.
The hearing will be held at 6 p.m. at Crofton Elementary School.
Patch has uploaded a number of documents, maps and correspondence about the project for your review.

The documents include:
- Maps showing the location of the landfill in relation to the surrounding area, including residences in Piney Orchard and Four Seasons.
- General information about the proposal, including information on geology of the area.
- Operational criteria, with information on the noise, odor, traffic and visual impact of the landfill.
- Information on the landfill liner system, designed to prevent the release of leachate into the environment.
- Correspondence between Tolson representatives and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
- Information on trees that will be planted as a buffer between the landfill and homes.

Yes! I was there along with my neighbor and provided testimony. It was clear from today's meeting that MDE should deny the permit following all of the concerns and statistics members of the community brought forward. Additionally, those representing Tolson were unprepared and were not able to answer the majority of the questions. These are obvious indicators that this fill is only being opened for those that own it to profit and residents to suffer with the inhalation of H2S gas, noise and groundwater contamination it will create.
