UPDATE: Annapolis Woman Dies After Crash on Annapolis Road

Police are seeking the driver of a four-door Chevrolet Silverado truck who left the scene after the crash.

UPDATE (Monday, 10:30 a.m.)—A 27-year-old woman died from injuries sustained in a crash Sunday night on Annapolis Road in Odenton, according to Anne Arundel County police. The driver of the other car involved in the accident reportedly fled the scene.

Tori Danielle Stitely of 53-½ Cornhill St. in Annapolis died at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, according to a police press release issued Monday morning.

Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said the crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. Sunday at the 1100 block of Annapolis Road. There were two vehicles involved: a four-door Chevrolet Silverado truck and a Lexus sedan.

Police said the driver of the truck fled the scene on foot after the collision and did not help Stitely, who was driving the sedan. Witnesses told police the truck driver was a white woman with brown hair wearing a pink tank top and jeans.

The investigation indicates that the truck was traveling west on Annapolis Road when the Lexus, which was pulling out of the parking lot, suddenly pulled into the path of the truck. The two vehicles reportedly collided and the Lexus came to rest in the grassy area on the south side of the road while the truck began to rotate and struck a telephone pole.

Police said the cause of the crash appears to be that the Lexus failed to yield the right of way to the truck. It is not known at this time if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this crash or the identity of the truck driver is asked to call 410-222-8573.

Annapolis Road was  blocked off from the traffic circle at Sappington Station Road to Oakton Road, but was cleared for traffic by about 11 p.m. Sunday.

Thanks! I just logged on to see if anyone knew why there were helicopters circling over Shelter Cove, now I know. So glad to see you are on top of things as usual!

I have heard helicopters flying over my neighborhood and I'm by Odenton Elementary School, not too far. Praying that all involved in the accident is okay.

There's a lot that we don't know for sure right now and we'll probably have more details in the morning. But I can tell you at least one chopper flew very slowly right over my house. Very strange sensation.

We certainly hope everyone is OK.

I was a first responder to the accident last night and it was definitely a hit and run. By the time I left, the K9 patrol and helicopter teams were still looking for the woman driver of the truck that fled the scene immediately following the accident.

The young driver flown to shock trauma was named Tori Stitely and she was 28 years old. Sadly, she died from her injuries. The driver of the pick-up fled on foot.

Unfortunately she did pass away and as Jean stated her name is Tori Danielle Stitely. I hope they find the person that fled on foot, her life was taken way to soon.

Tori Stitely worked with me at one time. Her death is very tragic. Hard to imagine a young, vibrabant, beautiful young lady will no longer walk into her front door.

I'm totally sick over this Marie. Worked with her and her dad as you know. I can't even imagine the depths of his shock and emptiness.

It sure would be awesome if somebody would at least give us the color of the Silverado. I'll keep my eye out for a Silverado with big dents in it I guess...

If the truck was left behind, the police know who owns the truck. The story doesn't indicate that the truck was stolen. Has the owner(s) been questioned? Anything more on if the Lexus hit the truck or the truck hit the Lexus? I didn't read the original story only the updated version.

Its really hard to digest the news - that a young lady daughter of a great man and good human is no more with us.

I'm assuming that the operator of the truck was drunk or high. Why else would someone flee the scene of an accident that clearly wasn't their fault? Is one of my biggest fears when I drive drunk. That I'll get into an accident that isn't my fault and will get busted when I didn't do anything wrong. My condolences to the family.
