Both the Arundel and Meade boys basketball teams moved a step closer to the state championship Thursday night. The two teams will now face off in the region semifinals on Tuesday.
No. 2 Arundel defeated No. 7 Chesapeake 68-45, and No. 3 Meade topped No. 11 Great Mills 92-91 in a closely contested battle. The Thursday night victories set up and No. 1 vs. No. 2 showdown for the local teams next week in the Class 4A boys basketball region semifinals.
The Old Mill boys basketball team is also still alive in post season play. The Patriots defeated Severna Park 66-62 on Thursday and will play North Point next week.
The Arundel - Meade game is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Arundel High School. Old Mill and North Point will tipoff at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Old Mill.
