Bites Nearby: Sushi

Hana Japanese Cuisine in Piney Orchard is the top spot for sushi and similar dishes from the Land of the Rising Sun. But there are plenty of other good places throughout the region, as well.

As the Odenton Town Center starts to take shape, there's always a buzz about what possible new restaurants might be coming to down. We've heard some calls for a good sushi place, so many people may be surprised to realize there already is a Japanese restaurant in town.

Hana Japanese Cuisine in Piney Orchard has everything a sushi-lover could want, including sashimi appetizers, tuna and some spicy options. There are vegetarian options with tofu and vegetables, and even a rib-eye steak if you're not in the mood for fish.

If you want to get out of Odenton for a night but still want sushi, there are plenty of options in the area, including quite a few along the Route 3 corridor in Crofton and Bowie.

Here's our rundown:

Hana is a great nearby option for "casual" sushi, although Joss on Main Street in Annapolis is my local favorite. Another good option nearby is Otani in Crofton (next to the Giant).

One of my favorite dishes at Hana is the nabeyaki udon -- a chicken and seafood soup with thick noodles, vegetables and egg. Perfect for getting over a cold (take-out, of course).

Don't know how you missed Otani in Crofton (in the Giant shopping center). Locally owned and operated and in our opinion the best sushi in the area bar none! You should try it - they have sushi and other options available and their specials are awesome!

Madonna - you are right! We love Otani. Can't believe we overlooked them. We've added them.
