Big Two Days for Local Sports Teams

There's plenty of great action in football, volleyball, field hockey, soccer, and cross country.

 

We're entering the home stretch of the fall high school sports seasons, and several local teams are in the hunt for state titles. 

Arundel, Meade, Old Mill and South River will be seeking big playoff wins Friday and Saturday. Here's a look at what's in store: 

Football

Arundel (10-0) hosts Meade (7-2) in a Class 4A regional semifinal. Arundel won 40-8 in the teams' first meeting this year. Friday 7 p.m. at Arundel. 

Old Mill hosts South River in the other regional semifinal. Friday, 7 p.m. at Old Mill. 

Volleyball

Arundel vs. Severna Park in the Class 4A regional final. Arundel is seeking its third straight trip to the state final four. 

Field Hockey 

The South River field hockey team will be playing for the Class 4A state title against Catonsvile High. The match will be played at Washington College Friday at 6:30 p.m. Check Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch for coverage. 

Soccer 

The South River girls won the regional title and take on Bowie in the state final four on Saturday. The match will be played at noon at Richard Montgomery High School. 

Cross Country

A host of runners from South River have qualified for the state championships at Hereford High School on Saturday. Follow results live at motiontiming.com.
