Area Schools Set Dates for Back-To-School Nights

Parents will have the opportunity to meet with teachers and principals again in September.

Sharpen your pencils, scope out deals on calculators and brush the dust off your backpack—it is already time to start talking about going back to school.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) has announced the schedule for Back-To-School Night.

More than 77,000 students are expected to enter AACPS classrooms this fall, and Back-To-School Nights provide parents with the opportunity to learn more about their child’s teacher and the instruction their kids will receive.

Added Maxwell, “Back-To-School Night provides the first of many opportunities throughout the school year for parents to interact with teachers and learn about classroom procedures and the things their children will be studying," Anne Arundel County Schools Superintendent Kevin Maxwell said in a press release. "I would urge every parent to take full advantage of these opportunities."

Sounds great. Are we paying extra in order to have the teachers there?

The teachers attend back to school night because it is in their union contract. No one pays extra for them except the teachers.
