Anne Arundel County police have seized a three-foot long American alligator from a Jessup home following a drug bust that resulted in various criminal charges for a Jessup man.

The alligator was in good health, police said. It was initially taken to animal control in Anne Arundel County, and was then taken to a facility for exotic animals.

On Friday, officers executed a search and seizure warrant at 7506 Gleneagle Drive in Jessup.

In addition to finding the alligator, law enforcement officials said they found approximately 159 grams of marijuana worth an estimated $3,180. Other items seized included drug paraphernalia, $792 in cash and other unknown substances that have been sent to the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s crime lab for analysis.

Michael Bolden, 32, of 7506 Gleneagle Drive, was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of CDS marijuana. Additional charges are pending, police said.

Police said that evidence discovered at the scene led detectives to confirm that Bolden is involved with the Dead Man Inc. street gang.

According to published reports, Dead Man Inc. is a prominent gang in prisons in Maryland. Twenty-two alleged gang members were indicted last year on a number of charges, including drug trafficking and murder. One of its alleged leaders pleaded guilty to a series of crimes in September.
