Dear Community Members:

It’s never too early to begin educating our students about college and career readiness. In order to expose our students to a host of career options, positive career models, and demonstrate how academic skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, etc.) relate to future careers, we will be hosting a Career Day in May.

We are hoping to involve not only parents, but community members and local businesses as well.  It’s important that our students receive information about a variety of careers; every career is significant. Past presenters included X-ray Technicians, Dentists, Veterinarians, Civil Engineers, Cryptology and Network Traffic Analysis, Graphic Artists, K-9 Unit, Nurses, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, Event Planners, Bakers, Pilots, Florists, Pet Therapists, and other local business owners.

Those interested in volunteering for Career Day will have 30 minutes to share information about their jobs. They can talk about what they do, the kinds of academic/vocational skills needed to qualify for and successfully perform the job, and equipment that they use on the job. Students are very interested in seeing actual tools, specialized clothing, or other materials used on the job. Time for questions and answers are included in the 30 minute period.
